Welcome to September

Today ended up being 14K instead of the prescribed 24K run. Hubs and I went out at 4:00 in the afternoon and I hadn't realized how hot it was going to be today. I don't know why I am so uber sensitive to the heat these days, it just makes me feel nautious to run in it, or maybe I am still recovering from Quebec. I don't think so though, I think I just have low tolerance or I'm not eating/hydrating properly enough to deal with it. Does anyone else experience this?! Yikes. On the up side, all of the stretching and icing seems to be helping my left side issues, and I didn't even feel it today.

This weekend I may enter a trail race to get in my 26K. Check it out here. I originally debated on running the 50K, but after Quebec and my left side issues, I think I'll play it safe and just run a slower trail race, which will be perfect distance if I end up running Scotiabank marathon in a few weeks.

I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday. Happy running and thanks for reading!

I'm the exact same way with the heat; it absolutely kills me. I feel nauseous, weak and just plain miserable running in it. REALLY hoping for decent temps for Sept. 28th!!

That trail run sounds like a great way to log your 26K this weekend.

To answer your Q. re: Nike+...I do like it, but the data I posted (showing Total Time VS Moving Time) is actually from my Garmin. Total time is the time including time when the Garmin was paused (i.e. at our orange rest stop, bathroom break, etc.)

The Nike+ is a neat little toy and it's actually a lot more accurate than I expected. I use it to upload my runs on Runner+ here: http://www.runnerplus.com/people/mmmarlene

I think the heat affects everyone. It's not just you!

I hear you on the heat...I am such a baby about heat but I can handle most cold. Heat makes me want to give up!

Yes...go the shorter distance girlie. You've been racing your little feet off. It'll do you good to get some recovery time in before Scotia. Take care of yourself!

We haven't had any time to adjust to this heat, at ALL.

Glad you're walking on the smart side of the street and taking some much needed down time...hopefully catch up with you in T.O.

It's insidious. The heat creeps up and then ZAP! you're gone. I fall apart within a 1/2 mile once the dehydration scale tips. So long August.

It's been way too hot around the Bay Area, too. I've been having such a hard time running... Dehydration is my worst enemy!!
