Rest Day: Quick Commentary

Although I had yoga and a 20K recovery bike on tap for today, I opted to take a rest day instead. Rationale being I can easily make up the bike mileage later in the week, and the yoga was optional anyway. I really felt like I needed a rest day, since I didn't really have one last week.



That said, why do I feel so guilty for taking it? I know I need it. I know its good for me, but I find myself thinking.... maybe I could just do a little 5K recovery run, or go for a swim, etc. Does anyone else experience this?

Tomorrow is Nacho time trial (1K swim, 16.3K bike and 3K run). Hubs and I are heading up to Parry Sound shortly, so hopefully the 1K time trial swim will go better this week. Hope you are all having a great day. Thanks for for reading!

PS - Go sign Marlene's petition for to her Hubby for a new Garmin 310XT. The girl deserves it, she has been busting out PR's like its nobodies beezzznuss!

i find it so different taking a rest day while doing this tri training as it doesn't seem as hard on the body, but i know it's needed. Enjoy it!!

I feel the guilt too. We definitely shouldn't but I know it's hard not to. Take the time you need...it's better than over doing it.

i feel guilty 99% of the time. (hello i just realized i've been going 15 days straight!) try not too dwell on it too much, it's just one day and you'll be back out there again tomorrow (/today, since i'm late). our bodies get pushed to the limits - we need to give them a treat! :)

OMG i usually guilt myself into doing something. It is so sad. I feel like my body needs to move but rest days are so needed. The lack of them is why I am burnt out!

I am the same way. I feel weird when I have a total rest day -- usually my non-running days involve cross training of some sort. But, full rest days really are important. ENJOY it!
