Quick Update

Hubs and I decided to bail on the Grimsby Half Marathon today. We got up, had oatmeal and banana, checked the weather report, and got ready. We drove about halfway there before we finally decided it wasn't a great idea. The main routes were clear, but the side roads were slushy and wet and there were wind gusts and wet flurries. Most of the route is through wine vinyards so I am sure the roads would have been snowed-covered and there would have likely been wind gusts.

Sure we could have finished, but it would have been ugly, and I just didn't have it in me today. We opted instead for an indoor track run. I ran 26K (16.25 miles) and had a better run compared to yesterday. This brought my mileage to 41 for the week, so I was happy with that. Next weekend is the Chilly Half Marathon, so I hope the weather will be better for racing. Fingers crossed. I am so ready for this darn winter to be done!

Have a great week, thanks for reading!

Even if you didn't race, you got in more miles than the race itself - that's the way to skip a race! Impressive!

I don't blame you for bailing on that one. But 16 miles on an inside track? You amaze me.

Sorry you didn't get to race. Sounds like you made the right choice though.

definitely ready for this winter to be done and over with. I think you made the right choice.. the roads were horrible today.... no sense in risking an injury. Keeping my fingers crossed for good weather for the Chilly! Great job getting the track run in though :)

Bailing was probably the smarter option. Running in the cold AND snow would have been dangerous. Very amazed you managed to 16 miles indoors. Wow! nice job.

It was not pretty in Grimsby. The roads weren't too bad but the wind was terrible. The finishing shute was almost gale force.
I too am praying the weather gods unleased their fury yesterday and not for the Chilly..

Nice, you got in more miles than the race would have given you!

No sense doing it if you're not into it for whatever reason - and the icky weather sounds like a good reason to bail to me!

Sounds like a smart choice! I admire you for hitting the track instead of heading straight back home to the couch.

I'll be at the finish line next weekend removing chips. I'll look out for you.

overachiever! nice job getting a run in still and two good runs back to back! sounds like you made the smart choice on the race, and glad you were able to still get your butt out the door to run. i know i would've been tempted to skip it :)
