Race Goals and Other Misc Stuff

Not much new here. I still haven't run since my last post. I had a busy weekend. I felt under the weather on Friday, and then Hubs and I went up to visit his family in Parry Sound. I spent most of the weekend in the library and Starbucks working on a chemistry book I am writing. Thank goodness for Pumpkin Spice Lattes. They made the 14 hours I spent writing this weekend bearable. I had intended on running, but the combo of feeling sick and cold, wet weather, and the need to meet a deadline, halted any running. I think the rest may be good though, my legs feel ready to go today.

Fast forward to Monday. Loving sweet Hubs made a huge pot of vegetarian chilli that I had a generous serving of, washed it down with a coffee, and I will head out for a 14K jaunt as soon as I am done writing this post.

I went on the Philly site today and I saw the 12 days remaining on the clock, and I can't wait. I have been ponderering over possible goals for Philly, and although I haven't decided, here is a tenative plan.

A goal - sub 4:00 hours. I must admit I am hestitant to go for it, simply because I don't want to go out too fast and blow the race all together

B goal - sub 4:09:20. I would be very happy with this. I think I can meet this goal since I ran Hamilton in 4:09 after running Niagara the previous week.

C goal - sub 4:15. I would be dissapointed with this number, but its only a number, and still respectable, and I know I will still have a blast at the marathon.

D goal - finish

I know I should be commenting on your running goals but I want to know more about a chemistry book...what kind of book? A textbook? Cool.

I think your legs needed to break. I bet it will pay off well by them coming back in great form. I'm guessing the 14K went well.

Did you say you're writing a book? A chemistry book? Like a text book!? Omg, where do you find the time?? Especially with all the running?????? Seriously, a chem book? Wow.

Your goals sound like my goals, sister. I can totally relate. Wow, 12 days to go!!!! This is so exciting. :-)

My opinion...go for the finish... your body will take care of the rest of it. If it's time for a sub 4 then it will happen.

A chemistry book? I was a chemistry major in college...can not imagine writing a book about it! Yikes!

I can't believe Philly is in less that 2 weeks! Maybe we can meet up during the run. Kill some time getting to know each other during the run!

And 14 hours straight of writing ... wow! I will never again complain about having blog writer's block. Sheesh.

I'm with the other commenters: amazed that you're finding the time to run marathons AND write a chemistry book! Good thing it sounds like you have a wonderful, supportive husband. Vegetarian chili is the absolute best at this time of year.

I say go for B, and then if you do sub-4, it's a big bonus.

Also, I never heard back from the Philly people, so I'm assuming I'm not doing it. Instead, I'm looking at the inaugural Rehoboth Beach Seashore Marathon in Delaware that is the day before. If you're interested, I've heard it's an easy double with Philly.

You are writing a chemistry book? Holy cats...you are a brainiac. The only thing I can contribute to the chemistry world is not to sniff hydrochloric(sp) acid...ha!
