As soon as my marathon streak is over (South Bend Indiana up next), I plan to slowly get back into marathon training, with St.George Marathon likely being my next goal marathon (unless I can swing a Cali trip to visit my dad and run SF).
Even with all of the running I have been doing, I feel terribly out of shape. I need to mix things up with some new cross training. I will likely go back to incorporating more yoga and bootcamp, but I am also thinking of joining this off-road cycling group Monday nights called the Fly Gurlz.
It should be a perfect Monday night after long run activity. I love that it is an offroad club, I having been craving trails lately...
The only problem, I need a mountain bike. I have a road bike, but it wouldn't for this off road terrain. If you have any tips please leave them below if you don't mind. I hope to shop a little tomorrow for one, and I want a good bike, but don't want to spend a fortune!
I think (well I hope) the popup banner thingy is fixed, but if you are still getting them let me know. I hate POP UP banners, and I'm sorry you are getting them visiting my site. I will make it my mission that they go away!
Tomorrow is the Toronto Women's half marathon. I am running it just for fun, maybe in around 2 hours, maybe more, we'll see, I want to rest up for my last full of the season.
Thanks for reading and good luck to tomorrow's marathoners!!!
No sign of a pop-up. :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like such a fun cross-training activity! Good luck finding a bike (I'm clueless on that front).
sounds like it would be a lot of fun and great for cross-training. i'd love to find a group of people to go road biking with and learn a few things from. Have fun tomorrow!!
ReplyDeleteNo pop up for me either! I agree with Mel, it sounds like a lot of fun! We are just lacking the "mountain" ...or any type of hill for that matter...in my part of the country! Happy running!
ReplyDeleteFun stuff! My moutain bike is REALLY old, not much help here...
ReplyDeleteGood luck tomorrow!!!
ReplyDeleteCome to Cali and run SF??? That would be cool. Are you talking about in July? A bunch of us bloggers are signed up to do the 1/2 (first 1/2).
I'm reading other people's comments. No pop-ups here either. ;)
No popup YIIPPEEEEE!
ReplyDeleteHave fun at the Ladies Half. I'm the same as Lisa, my MB is old but still good, it's a Raleigh with the original paint job!
No pop ups here.
ReplyDeleteThat club sounds like lots of fun! It also sounds like a great way of cross training. I have no tips on the bike. I ended up with a mountain bike cause I thought it looked cool.
Have fun at the half today! That should be a fun race! I didn't get any pop ups this time on your site! Yay! you must have fixed it!
ReplyDeleteNo pop up!
ReplyDeleteAnd the mountain biking sounds like fun!
Hope the half is going well!!
ReplyDeletesounds like a fun cross training adventure! I have no bike suggestions as mine is a Schwinn Target purchase :)
ReplyDeleteI have the opposite problem - I have a mountain bike but no road bike :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like it'll be fun though!
NO POP UPS here!
ReplyDeleteOoohhhhh mountain biking sounds like it would be killer cross training :-)
After hanging out with runner girls this weekend, I decided I need a network of runner girls in my hometown. I vote you totally do the trail run, and good luck finding a bike. It sounds like fun!
ReplyDeleteLook at you go! Mountain biking -- sounds cool. All the mt. bikers I know just love it. But, I have no biking advice because I am spastically uncoordinated and therefore afraid of the bike!
ReplyDeleteThe idea of mountain biking scares me. But road biking already scares me so I'm just a bike weenie :)
ReplyDeleteCOME TO SF!!!!
no pop ups for me either :) you are a magician.
ReplyDeletei need to do more types of workouts/exercises too... sigh. a women's off-road bike team sounds super fun! i have no bike suggestions to attempt to give you though, sorry.
No pop ups here! The mountain bike group sounds like fun! I have no suggestions on a bike though...I'm a definite roadie..!
ReplyDeleteThat mountain biking sounds like just the ticket to spark your training! Good luck on finding a great bike, and I wish I had some advice. If you ever want a stripped down single-speed commuter let me know, but as far as mountain bikes I have no idea.
ReplyDeleteAnd I thought I'd mention that there are no pop-ups when I visited your blog today. Yay!
come to caliiiiiiiiiii!!!! read my post today :) if i run sfm i could be a maniac hehe... definitely considering the full again - what has gotten into me?!? lol
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the bike expense...start off with a decent but cheap bike and the, if you really get into cycling, buy a year old used one. The hardcore bikers sell their perfectly good ones used for half price after a year. Check your local biking store.
ReplyDeleteHow 'bout a hybrid? That way you could use it for both?
ReplyDeleteYou do know that St Georges is a lottery? MTB is such fun!
ReplyDeleteI hope that the 1/2 for fun went well! The st george marathon - I've heard lots of good things!
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great half. One of these days I am going to get a little smarter and realize that there is more to running races than just doing fulls.
ReplyDeleteTake care.
hey Marci, haven't heard from you in a while, hope all is well :)
ReplyDeleteHope you had a good race at the women's half marathon. And that you're going well.
ReplyDeleteI love bootcamp, I think it's a really great exercice. You don't get that sort of intensity doing the same exercices yourself!!
I'm thinking about signing up for a duathlon this fall and am really looking forward to the cross training. I like new things...and the challenges they bring: http://christy-goingthedistance.blogspot.com/
