Congratulations to all the SF marathon runners, it was fun to read your reports this weekend!
This weekend I signed up for another tri, the National Capital Triathlon, Olympic distance. It is in Ottawa Ontario, a city that I love, so I am so excited to have an excuse to go there again. The Olympic distance is a good intermediate step to the half iron and it is a consistent distance from race to race. It will be a 1500 meter swim, 40K bike, and a 10K run. This is the distance of all Olympic triathlons, regardless of venue, although I wonder if the transition distances are the same in each race. I am learning there are so many factors that can affect your outcome in these events. I am aiming for a sub three hour finish, but I will be happy with completing it feeling like I pushed/punished myself enough. Anyway I want a bench marker to see where I am now, versus down the road with more training.
This means I have to adjust my training for the week. I will post a recap of last weeks training and the plan for this week today. I don't plan any major taper for this, although I will squeeze two rest days between now and the race. I find it hard to juggle all three sports, and I'm not even working right now, but it is a lot of fun.
Happy Monday and thanks for reading!
eh you know, no biggie. i just did my first tri and now i'm gonna do them every weekend too. what would life be like without a race to rush off to? ;-)
ReplyDeletevery cool! stepping it up already - you crazy tri-nut! :)
The Olympic distance tri sounds like a really good combo of running, swim and bike. Good luck with the training!
ReplyDeletegood luck this weekend, it's nice to see that these events don't sell out immediately and that you can sign up last minute!! I'm impressed that you're already doing an Oly when you just started these in the last month or so! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteNow you're a serious tri addict!
ReplyDeleteHappy training :)
Exciting! Tri-addict is right. :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear about it!
Congrats on picking another tri! I failed miserably at juggling three sports. I don't know how people do it!
ReplyDeleteGood luck this weekend! I don't know how you juggle all three sports . . . I have trouble just adding in a couple of bike rides each week.

ReplyDeleteExcellent, how fun! Yeah, transition and distance to the transition area plays a big part. Just keep moving as fast as you can through it - don't do like I used to and hang out in there and get your nails done before heading out on the bike;)
ReplyDeleteWow - that's awesome!! : )
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a lot of fun. Good luck this weekend!

ReplyDeleteSweet !!! You are seriously into tri thing now. The problem with me is that I hate to swim and I don't have a fancy bike like Lance Armstrong.
ReplyDeleteI am tickled with the fact that you are into Tri. I look forward to your on-going training for it.
That is my home city.
ReplyDeleteAny way to recognize and cheer for you if I do make it? (currently juggling multiple invites for Saturday)
