Hubs and I went for an 11 mile steady run that went really well yesterday. It was a nice day about 1C/34F out. The only problem was the icy patches in some parts.
We love running up to the conservation area, and running on some trails. Unfortunately we had to walk a lot of it, since it was slippery and icy. It is sometimes frustrating when you need to keep a pace but really can't due to weather conditions, but I guess that's what makes you stronger as a runner, rolling with the curveballs. It was overall a good run, and we managed to keep a sub 6 min/km pace.
Today however, it is -6C but feels like -13C/8F with the windshield. Its a rest or recovery day on my training schedule so I am heading to hot yoga. I can't wait! I can feel the warmth as I type!
Hope you all enjoying your weekend! Thanks for reading!
I ran into (actually over) a lot of icy & slushy spots yesterday, and it really is challenging. I'm hoping that's the last time this year (we don't usually have quite so much winter here). Way to do 11 miles on ice (and in the cold! BRRR!)
ReplyDeleteenjoy the hot yoga! I loved it the first time I tried it, and am trying to figure a way to work it into my schedule! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteAhhh hot yoga. Sounds fabulous!
ReplyDeletewow! 11 miles, awesome, that's great your hubby will run that far with you and you both keep the same pace!!! i TOTALLY hear you about the winter weather-- running on snow is so hard and i'm getting a little tired of it, so much of the sidewalks aren't cleared. i'm just happy at stretches of clear ground!!! :) but i liked your assessment of rolling with the curveballs. i guess i just need to change how i think about it.
ReplyDeleteThat hot yoga sounds nice. The run, not so much. Brrr!
ReplyDeletegreat job on the runs! i cant imagine dealing with that weather :( i bet it can be so frustrating!
ReplyDeleteIce is really the only major thing besides serrrrious cold that will keep me off the roads. It makes me nervous and I'm not always smart enough to be paying attention!
ReplyDeleteI went out for five minutes today just to go to the library, and froze my tail off. I am VERY jealous of hot yoga! :)
ReplyDeleteNice run with Hubs. Enjoy the Hot Yoga.
ReplyDeleteI agree - I hate having to slow down for ice and snow but oh well! At least you got out there for the run! Great Job!
ReplyDeletegood run, and you certainly earned the hot yoga! sure sounds nice and warm. hope you were able to thaw out!
ReplyDeleteHot yoga's gotta feel great in 8F weather. Brrrrr....
ReplyDeleteSo you're liking the hot yoga? I think I'd probably like it nowadays with the temps being as they are LMAO!
ReplyDeleteWay to go! That's so cool you and hubs run together. I need me one of those ;-)
ReplyDeleteI hope the hot yoga was enjoyable!!
Hot yoga?? That sounds cool!
ReplyDeleteHope the hot yoga helped ya warm up!
ReplyDeleteIce is one of the main reasons I broke down and bought a treadmill this year. I took a spill last year on ice during marathon training and did a doozy to my knee (not to mention it was the first time out for my UnderArmour Cold weather tights - Grrrr). Be careful out there!
ReplyDeleteHot yoga sounds really appealing right about now. I froze my buns off this morning! Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYeah, the icy, slushy patches stink! I hope you enjoyed the hot yoga.
ReplyDeleteHot yoga sounds like just the thing to warm you up :)
ReplyDeleteHope the ice goes away for your next run!
